Making a 3D scene from a sketch -figurative-
Intro

Guayana Fortress This image -or more properly, scene- was made as an entry for an IRTC round in 2000. The topic was "Ruins". I remember a castle right away. An old spanish castle -among many- at the Orinoco river. It was composed and rendered in POV-Ray, based on the sketch at the left. As you see, it ended up quite different from the sketch, although the drawing worked fine to keep me on track.
To me, sketches are such flexible tools, that they can be completely ignored.
The reason I am presenting you this sketch is because I'll be making a 3D scene based on another sketch (sketch 02, left)and show every step of it ( as the scene evolves).
This sketch was made while in a doctor's office, doing what many people do in there, which is wait!. It was a photo on a beautiful calendar near the desk.
I am very happy that it was almost a year ago (found it in a drawer, looking for something else), so I am free to take the sketch and create forms and colors and feelings at will, without comparing to anything, and at my own pace.
I hope to show you the steps I take, or the way I work a 3D scene. It is just one way among many, because every person perceives the world on its own way. That's the beauty, isn't it?
